Description
Great Britain 1839 (Au) PROOF Five Pounds; “Una & The Lion” (W&R-278, S-3851; KM:742) Designed by William Wyons: This iconic Five Pound piece is one of the most desired coins of Great Britain. The obverse bares the young features of Queen Victoria. The reverse displays the standing crowned figure of the Queen as Una holding the Orb & Sceptre, guiding the lion. The legend reads “DIRIGE” and there is a Roman numeral date in the exergue. This coin is well struck and a nice example with some minor hairlines and contact marks in the fields: A nice example.
