Description

1584-86. Elizabeth I: (Au) Gold Sovereign (Schneider 801; N 2008; S-2529): Obverse: Queen seated facing outward holding orb and sceptre; portcullis at her feet. Reverse: Tudor rose with square topped shield in the centre, some slight weakness in the strike on some of the higher points of the relief; some weakness in the definition of facial details. Traces of old cleaning on some of the high points, not uncommon for a coin of this age; a very appealing specimen nevertheless.

Good Very Fine condition.
