1625. Charles I: (Ag) Half crown (North-2201 (R) issued in the first year of his reign (S 2764): Type 1a2. Obverse: Charles riding horse caparisoned with plume on head and crupper, plain housings, no ground below. Reverse: Square topped, garnished Royal Arms upon a cross fourchée. As a type, this coin is not rare, however it is well struck. This is a good example of this early issue on which the details on the king’s face and details of the horse are clearly visible.
