Seychelles Republic 1976 PROOF 5 Rupees issued for the Declaration of Independence Commemorative, Choice Proof with nice frosted details (KM: 27) Excessively RARE, only a hand full of this Pattern type are known to exist, struck in Cupro Nickel and not silver, Goldbergs suggest only 3 pieces are known to exist. (The coin is made of a copper-nickel composition testing at about 75% copper and about 24% nickel. Unrecorded, possibly unique, as the only proofs known are silver pieces. Obverse, portrait of President Macham right. REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES. Reverse, coco de mer palm INDEPENDENCE 1976 and 5 RUPEES. Seems a little thicker than the currency issue.
